Frequent Asked Questions

When can I start giving  Slurrp Farm Cereals to my child?

Our cereals are suitable for little ones once you begin offering complementary foods alongside mother’s milk, including around the time of the Annaprashana ceremony, which marks the start of first solids in many Indian families. We believe that each child has their own food journey and hence do not mention any specific age on our cereal packs. Once you start weaning, you can start with our single-grain cereals like Sprouted Ragi, Wheat Apple & Date, Wheat Apple & Banana Cereal, Ragi Apple & Banana Cereal. These can be prepared as plain porridges  by simply adding boiled water or combined with mashed fruits or vegetables.

Once your child is comfortable with individual grains, you can gradually introduce multigrain options like Strawberry, Sprouted Ragi & Rice and other grain + fruit or vegetable blends.

How are Slurrp Farm Cereals different from other cereals?

Our cereals are thoughtfully made for little ones beginning their solid food journey. They are made with real ingredients, including supergrains such as millets, oats and wholegrains and sweetened with real fruit powder - no added sugar of any kind, making it ideal for everyday consumption.

Our cereals also come in a variety of yummy flavours such as mango, banana, strawberry and apple, which are naturally sweetened with real fruit powder and date powder. We also have cereals such as Sathu Maavu, Moong Dal Khichdi, Millet Oat Porridge, Sprouted Ragi, Wheat Apple & Banana, Ragi Almond & Banana and Raw Banana.

Our First Bites cereals range have the goodness of sprouted grains like sprouted ragi and sprouted wheat that are easy to digest and gentle on little tummies. They are also easy to make and just take 5 minutes to prepare.

Is sprouted ragi better than normal ragi?

Ragi is nature's supergrain and a key ingredient in most of our products. It's packed with essential micronutrients like calcium and iron. Sprouting makes ragi easier to digest for little ones and also helps with better digestion of nutrients. Sprouted Ragi also has 3X of calcium and 10X of fibre as compared to normal ragi. Regular intake of sprouted ragi is known to boost immunity in little ones.

Our Sprouted Ragi Cereal is 100% natural and chemical-free, with no added sugar, no preservatives and no artificial colours. To make the cereal, sprouted ragi is roasted and then turned into a fine powder. You can use our Sprouted Ragi Cereal to make porridge, chillas, roti, thepla, cookies, pancakes etc. We also use sprouted ragi flour in cereals such as First Bites Strawberry, Sprouted Ragi and Rice; Mango, Ragi and Rice Cereal and Banana, Ragi and Rice Cereal.

Is sprouted ragi easy to digest by little ones?

Sprouted ragi is easier to digest for little ones than regular ragi and the sprouting process makes ragi gentle on little tummies. Sprouted ragi is also rich in calcium and iron. Sprouted ragi is also high in fibre, which helps in digestion. However, if your child has constipation or other digestion issues, we suggest consulting your doctor before giving sprouted ragi.

Can sprouted ragi be given in all seasons?

Yes. Sprouted ragi can be offered in any season. There is no restriction on seasonal consumption. Since ragi is naturally high in fibre and absorbs water, ensure adequate water while preparing it for a smooth consistency.

Do I have to add milk to Slurrp Farm cereals? What if my child is lactose intolerant or I don’t offer milk?

No. Many of our cereals can be prepared with just water. We also offer select variants that already contain milk solids, so you can choose based on your preference. For cereals without milk, you may add mother’s milk, formula or animal milk (if already introduced) from the top once the cereal has cooled slightly.

What is the best way to store your cereal once it's opened?

Once opened, we suggest storing the cereal in an airtight container or keeping it in the fridge. Use the cereal within 30 days or by the expiry date, whichever is earlier, as we do not use any preservatives. Do not use a rubber band or stapler for storing the cereal after it has been opened.

Does Slurrp Farm cereal use preservatives?

Slurrp Farm cereals do not contain any preservatives. The biggest reason brands use preservatives is when those products have moisture in them. Our products stay fresh longer because we use traditional preparation methods such as roasting, slow-drying, and natural dehydration. These time-tested techniques reduce moisture and help preserve freshness all without adding preservatives or chemicals. Since everything is fully dehydrated, our cereals don't go bad. The packaging has three layers of food-grade materials including one which is metalized. It is completely air-sealed to ensure there is no anaerobic activity inside. Once the pack is opened, we suggest you follow the storage instructions mentioned above.

How many scoops of cereal can be given to children below one year?

You can start with 1-2 scoops of cereal and then gradually increase the number of scoops as per your child’s appetite.

Do you use real fruits in your cereals?

Yes, we use real fruits such as banana, ragi, strawberry and apple by dehydrating them and turning them into a fine powder before mixing in cereals. Our fruit cereals include First Bites Strawberry, Sprouted Ragi and Rice; First Bites Sprouted Wheat, Apple and Date; Mango, Ragi & Rice; Banana, Ragi & Rice; and Ragi, Almond & Banana.

Do you add sugar in your cereals?

Our cereals for little ones do not have any added sugar. Some of our fruit cereals such as Strawberry, Ragi and Rice Cereal and Wheat, Apple and Date Cereal are naturally sweetened with real fruit powder and date powder. Date powder is simply dried, whole dates that have been ground into powder. It is a natural sweetener that contains fibre, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, making it a gentle way to add natural sweetness while introducing your little one to whole fruits early on (just like we do with grapes, raisins, bananas and other fruits).
