Green Peas Upma

Ingredients:

  • 150 gm upma mix
  • 300 ml water
  • 1 tsp rai (mustard seeds)
  • Handful of curry leaves
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/3 cup peas

Method:

  1. Prepare the Tempering:
    • Add 1 tsp rai (mustard seeds) and let them splutter.
    • Add the chopped onion, cashews and curry leaves. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  2. Cook the Vegetables:
    • Add the chopped carrots and peas to the pan.
    • Pour in 300 ml of water.
    • Cook for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Prepare the Upma:
    • Add 150 gm of upma mix to the pan.
    • Stir well to combine the mix with the vegetables and water.
    • Cook until the mixture absorbs all the water and reaches a thick, porridge-like consistency.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the upma hot.
    • Optionally, you can serve it with chutney on the side.
