Ingredients:
- 150 gm upma mix
- 300 ml water
- 1 tsp rai (mustard seeds)
- Handful of curry leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped carrots
- 1/3 cup peas
Method:
- Prepare the Tempering:
- Add 1 tsp rai (mustard seeds) and let them splutter.
- Add the chopped onion, cashews and curry leaves. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Cook the Vegetables:
- Add the chopped carrots and peas to the pan.
- Pour in 300 ml of water.
- Cook for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Prepare the Upma:
- Add 150 gm of upma mix to the pan.
- Stir well to combine the mix with the vegetables and water.
- Cook until the mixture absorbs all the water and reaches a thick, porridge-like consistency.
- Serve:
- Serve the upma hot.
- Optionally, you can serve it with chutney on the side.
