Mini Idli

Ingredients:

  • 150 gm dosa mix
  • 1/2 cup yoghurt
  • 100 ml water (adjust as needed)
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 tsp jeera powder (cumin powder)

Method:

  1. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a bowl, combine 150 gm of dosa mix with 1/2 cup yoghurt.
    • Add 100 ml of water, or more as needed, to achieve a slightly thin consistency.
    • Mix well until smooth and combined.
  2. Cook the Idlis:
    • Brush the idli moulds.
    • Pour the prepared batter into the moulds.
    • Steam the batter for 12-14 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the idlis comes out clean.
  3. Cool and Cut:
    • Remove the idlis from the moulds and let them cool.
    • Once cooled, cut the idlis into small pieces.
  4. Prepare the Tempering:
    • Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat.
    • Add mustard seeds, jeera (cumin seeds) and curry leaves. Sauté until the mustard seeds start to splutter.
  5. Fry the Idli Pieces:
    • Add 1 tsp of jeera powder to the pan and stir well.
    • Add the cut idli pieces to the pan and mix gently to coat them with the tempering and masala.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the mini idlis warm as a tasty snack or breakfast.
