Sathu Maavu Porridge with Tomatoes

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp sathu maavu mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tomato (plus additional water for boiling)
  • A pinch of cumin powder (or mustard powder)
  • 1/2 tsp ghee

Instructions

  1. Prepare Tomato Puree:
  • Boil water in a pot and cook the tomato until the peel starts to tear.
  • Let the tomato cool, then remove the peel. Blend the peeled tomato to make a smooth puree.
  1. Make Porridge:
  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup water with the sathu maavu mix. Stir with a fork to remove any lumps.
  • Cook the mixture over medium heat for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the tomato puree, cumin or mustard powder, and ghee. Mix well.
  1. Serve
  • Serve the porridge warm. For a thinner consistency, you can add more water to make it like a healthy soup. Enjoy!
