Let’s faceit. Being a parent in this fast-paced world is not easy. While we can draw endless comparisons to how our parents and grandparents played these important roles in our lives, there are some stark differences when we look at the current day and age we live in. The way food is made and consumed has changed over the last few decades. Even though there are multiple options for baby food online, it is so difficult to find the right one.

The Problem with kids' food products in the modern age

One small trip to the nearest supermarket is enough to counter all the good work you’ve done for your kid’s diet. While attractive colours and cheerful mascots lure children into picking up a snack, the back label can shed light on some shocking information. Refined flour, preservatives, trans fats, added sugars, excess use of salt and a host of other unhealthy ingredients make up most of the food products and kid’s snacks. How do we solve this big problem?

Establishing the right relationship with food

As Auguste Escoffier rightly said, “Good food is the foundation for genuine happiness”. For a growing child, especially between the ages of 0-12, food provides the building blocks for their holistic development. Food for kids need not be the complex problem that most brands in the market make it seem to be. Sometimes, all we have to do is look at our past to develop fitting solutions for the future.

    Millets all the way!

The greatest way to counter the overconsumption of refined flour is to replace it with wholesome cereals like millet. In India, we have easy access to 10 types of millet that can easily work with any dish that our kids are used to eating. For a quick alternative, you can also look for healthier, millet-friendly instant baby food products instead of readily available junk food.

Ragi, the most commonly used millet in the country, comes power-packed with nutrients. It’s high-fibre, rich in calcium and phosphorus and is an excellent source of natural iron. The list of Ragi benefits is endless, and the right Ragi dish is not only a healthy snack for kids but can surely become their favourite. The multitude of Ragi recipes includes Ragi Dosa, Ragi Porridge, Ragi Laddoos, Ragi Ball (popularly known as Ragi Mudde), Ragi Porridge and a whole lot more.

Jowar, another commonly used cereal, is widely grown across the country and is a staple dish for those seeking a healthy, gluten-free alternative to whole grains. It’s also full of antioxidants and has a low glycemic index, especially compared to rice. Popular Jowar recipes include Jowar Dosa, Jowar Rotis, Jowar Chila, Jowar Banana Sheera, Jowar Golpadi and an extensive range of otherpopular Indian delicacies. It can be a great addition to healthy recipes for kids for a power punch of nutrients.

Foxtail millet is also another star replacement from the millet family. Rich in Vitamin B12 and Iron, it can help babies and young children form strong and healthy bones. Great to use instead of rice in any dish or cooked as the perfect partner to a healthy salad, it’s a great way to get your children to enjoy the many benefits of millet. It is a must in your baby food chart to include foxtail millet.

With a range of millet recipes in our collection, we can serve healthy snacks to our children any time of the day.

    Also, don’t forget about Oats!

Oats, along with millet, are something your kids can really benefit from. Full of fibre, vitamins and antioxidants, oats aren’t just good for your kid’s tummy, but it keeps them full for longer. They can be used for a range of different recipes for kids, and they work really well with fruits and vegetables.

Here’s a good moment to introduce ourselves

Hi, we’re Slurrp Farm, a conscious, child-focused brand created by two mothers who wanted nothing but the healthiest food for our kids. Just like you, we started out being perplexed about the current eating habits of our children, and as we searched the market to find healthy alternatives, we realised that there was a huge gap in the market. So we did what we do best, we sat down, spent a lot of time on research, testing and development and came up with a range of products that aren't just good for your kids but good for the environment too. Our aim
is to reintroduce the goodness of age-old cereals and healthy grains to a newer generation. By using more sustainable ingredients, we’re not just making kids healthier, but we’re also trying to leave a healthier planet for them.

    Natural, Nourishing and Yummy Products

Our products have to taste yummy to kids. They have to be healthy without them associating the term ‘healthy food’ with something that's bland or uninteresting. We ensure your babies and children consume a wide array of superfoods. Our products contain nourishing ingredients such as millets, lentils, oats, amaranth, ragi, nuts, and jowar and healthy fats like butter, fruits and vegetables, jaggery and honey.

Toddler's Cereals: Start them eating clean super young by having them try out our Mango, Ragi & Rice Cereal or our Millet Oat Porridge. We also have Sprouted Ragi Powder, Strawberry, Ragi & Rice Cereal, Sathu Maavu Porridge Mix, Moong Dal Khichdi Porridge Mix and a whole lot more. These cereals are not only healthy but also yummy toddler food.

Kids Cereals: In the vast ocean of high-sugar, processed breakfast cereals, try our healthier options instead. Choose between delectable crunchy cereals or lip-smacking crispies that come in different flavours to ensure that your kid starts the day healthily. Apart from breakfast, you can keep them in your purse as dry snacks for kids.

Pancakes, Dosas & Upmas: A mix for every fix. Depending on the time of the day or the demands of your little one, stay prepared by stocking up on our scrumptious line-up of mixes which can help you cook up a filling and nourishing dish in minutes. These mixes can be your go-to, quick options for healthy food for children.

Noodles & Pasta: We’re yet to meet a kid that doesn't love noodles. In a segment ruled by refined flour, any other option can be considered as an ‘impasta’. Excuse the pun but do explore our range of healthy alternatives that’ll make you think about why this isn’t the norm! These noodles for kids will not make you feel guilty and also provide nourishment to your kids.

Natural Sweeteners: The ill effects of processed sugars are widely known. Yet it is practically in every kid's food product. While buying snacks online, you will realize that most toddler snacks and baby food contains a high level of sugar. As we want to make sure our kids still enjoy their food without sacrificing their sweet cravings, our range of natural sweeteners, like Jaggery Powder, Date Powder and Coconut Sugar, will make sure to still keep the food yummy while cutting out the junk.

Superfoods: A group of easy-to-consume superfood powders, seeds and other products are meant for our children to get the nutritional edge as quickly as possible. Easy to consume and yummy on the tummy.

Milk Mixes: A new wave of milk mixes is upon us. Gone are the days when there was only one option. Designed to keep certain allergies and sensitivities in mind, our milk mixes are formulated to ensure that no child misses out on getting some nourishing goodness in a single glass. These milk mixes can be a perfect addition to breakfast for your toddlers.

Confused about what to pick? At Slurrp Farm, we have combo and trial packs to help you decide. Let us help you in your journey of raising happy and healthy children.

    All the best super parents!
